Dr Simon MY Lou is a male .

Simon was born in Hong Kong and emigrated to Hamilton, New Zealand, when he was three years of age. He attended Glenview Primary School, Melville Intermediate and then Melville High School. As a student, he played age group representative tennis and hockey, and played provincial representative hockey for Waikato and Otago.

After graduating BDS from the University of Otago, Simon worked two years as a house surgeon in oral and maxillofacial surgery in Auckland at Middlemore Hospital, and one year as a dental registrar. He then travelled to the United Kingdom in 1996 where he spent three years working as a senior house officer in oral and maxillofacial surgery in a number of units around the UK. He met his wife, Anna, soon afterwards and travelled extensively around Europe, the Indian Subcontinent, South America, North America, Asia and Africa.

Simon returned to New Zealand in 1999 and graduated MBChB and MDS (OMS) in 2003, and passed the FRACDS (OMS) specialist examination in 2006, having spent that year as an advanced surgical trainee at Waikato Hospital.

Having passed his final examinations, he moved back to the UK to undertake advanced training in head and neck oncology surgery and most recently, Simon was employed as a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon with a special interest in head and neck oncology surgery at the Royal Derby Hospital, Derbyshire, England. There he undertook all aspects of head and neck oncology surgery, including ablative and reconstructive surgery with microvascular free tissue transfer. Simon also undertook salivary gland surgery, orthognathic surgery, pre-prosthetic surgery including major bone grafting procedures, and he manages all aspects of maxillofacial trauma.

Simon practices the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial surgery including oncology surgery, salivary gland surgery, orthognathic surgery, craniofacial trauma as well as dental implants and dentoalveolar surgery. He currently works part-time as a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery at Waikato Hospital and consults privately at Anglesea OMS and operates at Braemar Hospital.

Simon is married to Anna and they have three young children, Caitlin, Benjamin and Olivia. They still enjoy travelling and skiing.
