Dr Lance West is an experienced and highly regarded oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He started his practice in Auckland in 1987. Because of his renowned reputation, he receives many referrals from GPs, orthodontists and dentists but also welcomes enquires directly from patients.
Lance has significant experience in the surgical aspects of dental implants including bone and soft tissue reconstruction in cases where implants may otherwise not be possible. He also specialises in surgical correction of jaw and facial deformities, wisdom tooth extraction and orthodontically related procedures such as exposures of impacted and unerupted teeth.
Lance trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at postgraduate level at the Royal London Hospital and the Royal Dental Hospital of London. In the course of his career he has gained fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and two fellowships of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (one in the general stream, and one in the speciality of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery). He has been a part-time Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with the Auckland District Health Board since 1989, where his main responsibilities are trauma, and the correction of facial and jaw deformities, mainly in syndomic and cleft lip and palate patients.
