Dr Katie Ayers is a female Specialist Paediatric Dentist.

Katie graduated as a dentist in 1995, gaining a Masters degree in Paediatric Dentistry (with distinction) in 1999, and a PhD in Dental Public Health in 2009. In 2013 she completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Management (Governance).

Katie has worked as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago School of Dentistry, teaching paediatric dentistry, orthodontics and dental public health. She frequently gives lectures to dentists and dental therapists (nurses) both in New Zealand and overseas. Katie has published widely in the academic literature.

Katie was awarded the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Young Lecturer Award in 2000, and the New Zealand Dental Association Outstanding Young Dentist Award in 2005.

In 2006, Katie was honoured to become a fellow of the Association of Dentistry International, in recognition of her continuing service to dentistry in New Zealand and overseas. Katie has also been awarded a membership of the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons, and more recently a fellowship of the International College of Dentists.

Katie is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association, the Australian and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry, the Australiasian Academy of Paediatric Dentistry, and the Paediatric Society of New Zealand (ANZSPD). Katie was the president of the New Zealand branch of ANZSPD from 2006-2009.

Katie is the Dental Approving Officer and Oral Health Advisor to the Midland group of District Health Boards. She is a member of the Executive and Board of the New Zealand Dental Association and is also a Director of Medical Assurance Society, and a trustee of the Braemar Hospital Charitable Trust.

Katie is passionate about optimal dental health and quality dentistry for children.
