I was born and educated in New Zealand competing in rugby, martial arts and athletics during my high school and university years, finally graduating from Otago in 1986 with BDS and BSc(Hons). Subsequently I began practicing dentistry in 1987 (see below for previous employment) before taking up a position in Newmarket in 1990.
